Silent Auction Sep 2022

Silent Auction - Sept 1, 2022 Club Meeting

CLUB MEMBERS ONLY

From time to time, the Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club (CARC) receives through donations of Silent Keys (SKs) and others, items of interest to ham radio operators.  Such items are usually offered for sale to club members first as a means of raising funds for various club projects.

The items shown below are such items and are now offered for sale to club members at our upcoming September 1, 2022 meeting.  Sales will be conducted by in-person only, written bids which will be submitted by interested club members.

Some items may not be items for use in the ham radio hobby.  If an item is of interest and you have knowledge or appropriate test gear, you are welcome to examine the item more fully than just a superficial examination provided that no damage is done.

Important Note.
Photos are provided for almost every item; however, interested parties should bear in mind that some items like the CB Radio System are comprised of several items for which photos are shown individually.  In that case, individual photos are to represent the components of the system and are not for sale individually.

  • All items are offered on an as-is, where-is basis with no guarantee of any kind by the Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club.
  • Items offered which are related to Amateur Radio or CB Radio usage are offered for sale only on the condition that the buyer operates such in full compliance with current FCC regulations.
  • Interested parties are strongly encouraged to personally examine items of interest before submitting bids.
  • Those bidding will be required to write their bid, name, and contact information on a bidding sheet we provide for each item.
  • All bids submitted are open for viewing by other members present.
  • Bids must be in whole dollar increments only.
  • Additional bids may be accepted until bidding is closed at the prescribed time.
  • Payment by the successful bidder will be made by cash or personal check at the conclusion of the bidding.

If you have questions, please contact our Club Treasurer, Jim Knight.  Please remember that these items are offered as-is, where is, so what you see may be all that is “known”.

There may be additional items available for sale but information was not available at the time of this writing.  Jim Knight may have additional information on some items.  He will be available before the auction at the meeting site to answer any questions of interested parties.

Radio City Multi-Meter
Ohms scales seem fairly accurate.
Current and voltage scales need calibration – all read lower than the actual value.  This is probably because one or more of the fixed resistors have increased in value due to age.

Motorade Automotive Dwell & RPM Meter
Testing showed that it read approximately the correct RPM for an 8 cylinder engine.  The instructions on the meter were not clear enough on how to read the dwell angle, so that function is not verified to work correctly.

Photovolt PH Meter
A test was run by following the instructions to calibrate it to read PH of 7 with distilled water in the beaker. Then lemon juice was added to the water which should have decreased the PH, but it still read near 7.  At this time this is a parts/project item.

Wet Wheel Grinder
The only test performed was plugging it in and verifying that the wheel would rotate.
