Scouting and Amateur Radio
Amateur radio provides an exciting and engaging introduction to technology, the fun of communicating with other Scouts, and the magic of long distance communication. The Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club can help Scouts and leaders with amateur radio education, Scout advancement, and integrate amateur radio into scouting activities. Please note, while this page focuses on Boy Scouts of America, we want to work with any Scouting groups. When we work with other organizations, this page will be updated with their requirements and activities.
Activities include:
- Jamboree on the Air
- Summer Camp Stations
- District Camporee Stations
- Amateur Radio Direction Finding – Fox Hunting
- STEM Programs
- National Jamboree
Boy Scouts can earn the Radio Merit Badge, qualifying for the Morse Code Interpreter Strip, as well as the Amateur Radio Operator Rating Strip. Webelos Scouts can earn achievement 6c of the Building a Better World Arrow of Light requirement.
We would like to work with your youth organization and introduce them to amateur radio. If you would like more information, please reach out to our scouting liaison, Garland Eubanks, at scouting@w4am.net.
